Sorry for the long hiatus. Where have I been? Boarding school. Why haven't I been posting art? Boarding school. Why do I need paleoart advice? Boarding school.
A guy in my board game design class has requested my help as a concept artist/dino consultant on his dinosaur-themed game. I've decided to design a speculative species for each group of dinosaurs he wanted to have represented. In order to maintain a degree of believability in my speculative 'saurs, most of the designs will be a gestalt of traits from actual species from their respective groups. However, there were a few designs I wanted to do something interesting with. I'm a major nerd when it comes to prehistoric life, but I admit, I'm not an expert. In order to keep my designs as plausible as possible, I need a little help from those of you more experienced with paleoart and paleoecology/paleobiology.
Specifically, I need ideas concerning the following speculative species:
- A stegosaur that somehow survived until the late cretaceous (I know how unrealistic this is, but the guy reeeeeaaaaaallllly wanted a stegosaur in his game)
- A relative of utahraptor that fills the niche of tyrannosaurs
- A ground-dwelling tapejarid (A pterosaur is being included for the same reason as a stegosaur)
Thank you guys in advance. Your help is greatly appreciated.
